My Good Enough Cleaning Schedule is reality based and doesn’t have you cleaning for cleaning’s sake.

Do you (attempt to) follow one of those oh-so-perfect Pinterest cleaning schedules? Does it make you feel like a failure? Mine did, so I made my own, and it’s GOOD ENOUGH!!

Our house is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy

– Unknown

In my “good enough” cleaning schedule, I break things down by how often I think they really need to be done, as opposed to how often I would like them to get done. For me it makes all the difference! Read to the end to find your FREE printable cleaning schedule!! Tape it to the inside of a kitchen cabinet door, and let’s clean together! Let’s set ourselves up for success.

GOOD ENOUGH CLEANING SCHEDULE VIDEO

DAILY “GOOD ENOUGH” CLEANING SCHEDULE TASKS

  • Make the beds. It always makes a room feel much more pulled together.
  • Do 1 load of laundry start to finish. You can have things on a rotation (so you aren’t doing the same load start to finish), but make sure you wash, dry, fold and PUT AWAY a load.
  • Wipe kitchen counters down
  • Set a 20 minute timer in the evening and tidy up until it rings. Stay on task – no distractions. Good music helps.
  • Dust mop hard floors in living spaces every 2-3 days as needed.

WEEKLY + BI-WEEKLY “GOOD ENOUGH” CLEANING SCHEDULE TASKS

I break the weekly items into an “odds” and “evens” category based on which week of the month we’re in. This lets many tasks become bi-weekly.

ODD WEEK TASKS

  • MONDAY: Grocery shopping + clean junk out of car, purse/diaper bag
  • TUESDAY: Dust & vacuum + 1 monthly/seasonal item (see below)
  • WEDNESDAY: Pay Bills (I include them because they are time consuming and I need to set the time aside in my daily schedule) + handle pending paperwork
  • THURSDAY: Deep clean bathrooms
  • FRIDAY: Change bed linens
  • SATURDAY: Daily Chores + catch up + purge/declutter 1 area
  • SUNDAY: Grocery list for coming week + deep clean kitchen + quick fridge purge

EVEN WEEK TASKS

  • MONDAY: Grocery shopping + pick up/wipe down outdoor living space
  • TUESDAY: Dust/vacuum + purge/declutter 1 area
  • WEDNESDAY: Pay bills + purge/declutter digital inboxes
  • THURSDAY: Quick bathroom disinfect + 1 monthly/seasonal item (see below)
  • FRIDAY: Mop
  • SATURDAY: Daily chores + catch up + purge/declutter 1 area
  • SUNDAY: Grocery list for coming week + quick kitchen clean + deep fridge purge & wipe down

Note: For a 5 week month you can cherry pick needed tasks for each day, as otherwise you’ll end up with the same week back to back one way or the other.

MONTHLY “GOOD ENOUGH” CLEANING SCHEDULE TASKS

These are already scheduled in to the weekly schedule above, so you’ll be prompted to do them. Do them based on what week of the month you are in.

  • WEEK 1: Clean inside kitchen appliances + disinfect garbage cans
  • WEEK 2: Wipe down smudges on walls/door + clean out and wipe down medicine cabinets
  • WEEK 3: Good sweep + wash of outdoor living space
  • WEEK 4: Seasonal item (see below)
  • WEEK 5: Seasonal Item (see below)

SEASONAL “GOOD ENOUGH” CLEANING SCHEDULE TASKS

Do these on a rotation whenever your monthly task says “seasonal item”

  • Polish wood furniture
  • Wash windows inside + out
  • Wash & iron curtains/shower curtains + deep clean blinds/shutters (on rotation)
  • Deep clean pantry – empty out entire contents, purge old items, wipe down shelves, & completely reorganize if necessary

I really hope my “good enough” cleaning schedule simplifies things for you. I know it has for me.
