The Cheeky Homemaker with recipes, education and fun for kids, and budget tips for your home

Hello! I’m Morgan – The Cheeky Homemaker

Coffee drinker – forgetful mother – oh look a squirrel! Did I say that out loud? Where did I leave my coffee???!!!

Let’s start over. I’m a wife, mother of 2 gorgeous little girls, and I consider myself extremely lucky to be a homemaker in this modern day and age.

I live on the outskirts of Los Angeles, in a little town tucked back into the foothills of our beautiful mountains.

Growing Up

I am an only child. I watched my mother successfully (yet very tiredly) balance the responsibilities of making a home with her full time job. She is truly amazing. I don’t know how she juggled it all and still made my childhood so special. She took a job at a school district so she would have school holidays. It was wonderful that she was home with me during my times off school including summer and Christmas vacation.

I can still feel the happiness of a summer morning – waking up to the windows open, the music playing, and my mom excitedly rushing me to get ready so we could hit the road to the beach.

From a young age I knew I wanted to be a homemaker. I was embarrassed to tell people. It’s not exactly the answer they’re looking for when you’re being asked where you want to go to college and what career you want. So I feigned interest in this major or that profession, all the while knowing in my heart that I really wanted to be home with a husband and babies taking care of my family.

Meanwhile, my many jobs that didn’t quite fit gave me so much knowledge that I now put to use in everything I do. I’ve had high power and high responsibility office jobs in accounting, sales, and marketing. I’ve been a hairstylist/licensed cosmetologist. I’ve helped my husband run his plumbing company. I manage 2 vacation rentals…the list goes on. I’m so grateful for all these past experiences and education, but I’m finally exactly where I want to be and I couldn’t be happier.

My family. My reason.

So, I ‘m lucky enough to get knowledge and inspiration from my beautiful mother who somehow always manages to do it all, and my loving grandmother who was pure Italian with all the recipes and know-how to back it up. I’m blessed to get amazing and ever-generous support from my handsome and hard-working husband.

I am PASSIONATE about homemaking. I cook, clean, manage all the finances, take care of the kiddos, TEACH the kids things, and most of all, I infuse love into this family. If everyone has a full belly, a full heart, and a smile on their faces, I consider my job done.

Now, that being said, I’m FAR from perfect. If you drop by on any given day, my home will certainly NOT be picture perfect. I’m busy living and enjoying life, and I’m always conscious of that balance.

What you can expect from me

My focus as a homemaker is keeping things running smoothly and efficiently, while not being a SLAVE to my home. There are certain areas that I believe need to be detailed and perfected (such as budgeting), and certain areas that I think good is good-enough (such as a little dust in the hard to reach places).

I’m a big believer in parents EDUCATING their kids. I think it is important for parents to shape the minds of their children, and not just rely on school to do it for them. I think children should learn through play and experience as much as possible.

My house is too small for my family. Right now we’re trying to figure out where we may want to relocate. In the meantime, my youngest daughter shares a room with our office/home supply room. This forces me to get creative and attempt to transform my family into a more minimal lifestyle, which it turns out I really enjoy! I have TONS of tips to help you keep any size space organized and prioritized.

Because I stay home and we live in pricey Los Angeles, we are on a BUDGET. I’ve always been good with money – from my single days when I had cash to spare, to my early days of marriage where I wasn’t sure how we were going to pay our bills, to now when we’re getting by due to my knack for budgeting and creative finance ideas (and of course my sweet husband working his butt off). I’m excited to share all of that with you to help you live more comfortably, no matter your financial situation.

Oh, and what makes me “cheeky” you ask? Well, just give me a glass or two of wine and you might find out.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I’m so glad you’re here.
