This Spring/Easter tablescape was so fun to do! I hope it brings you some inspiration, or at the very least brings your eyes some happiness.
Setting a beautiful table is something that brings me joy. Sometimes I like to make a fancy fussy table with chargers and fancy everything. But for spring I wasn’t feeling that. Spring says casual to me. It says natural, relaxed, and requests simple beauty.
Also, as embarrassing as it is to admit, I often forget where the silverware go. This has baffled my mother for years, because she has told me time and time again how to set a table. She is always flabbergasted that I STILL don’t know where everything goes. SO…….I have a couple of amazing tricks that I’m going to share with you. Shhhhh! Don’t tell everyone I need tricks that may or may not be intended for children to set the table. But, if you’re in need, they are great tricks.
MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT THE GREAT INFOGRAPHICS AT THE END OF THIS POST THAT SHOW YOU TRICKS FOR REMEMBERING HOW TO SET A TABLE PROPERLY!
WHAT IS A TABLESCAPE?
Well, to me, it simply means a thoughtfully or beautifully set table. Does anybody remember Christopher Lowell? I hear him in my head whenever I think of a tablescape. Uh oh – did I just date myself?
tablescape
Noun
When you have more than you need, build a longer table – not a higher fence
– unknown
I did my best to include links to all the items I used. When I couldn’t find an exact match I linked the closest substitute I could find. You’ll find the links within the post, and then again toward the end of this post under the SHOP THIS POST headline.
SPRING/EASTER TABLESCAPE BLOG HOP
Make sure you DO scroll down to the end because I set this beautiful table as part of a blog hop! I got together with several other ladies with gorgeous tables of their own to share. Make sure you check out their links and show them some love! I hope you enjoy all the inspiration – we had so much fun doing this!

The dishes I used are called Italian Countryside by Mikasa. These are actually the dishes we registered for when we got married. I love how easily I can dress them up or down.
The placemats are not new, but I found an almost exact match on Amazon! I should note that the ones I linked for you are made out of a natural fabric and look like they may be thinner than, say, a polyester. Any yellow hemstitch placemat would give you the same effect.
The little bunny egg holder was a gift. Here is something very similar to mine, and here is another bunny egg holder dish that is a different style, but also very cute!
As far as the glasses go, I wanted to make sure this table stayed casual and grounded. Sometimes I get fancy and frilly, but for this table I wanted understated simplicity. So, I went with good ol’ mason jars for drinking glasses. I like the wide mouth jars for drinking out of. They’re also handy for freezing things!
I am SO BUMMED I couldn’t find a napkin link for you. They’re new, but I purchased them at Home Goods. BUT I did find a link to the matching tablecloth! It could certainly give your table the same effect. You could substitute solid white or yellow napkins. Check it out HERE.
For flowers I cut some geraniums and verbena from my garden. I put them in the tea/coffee cups that match my dishes. Again, I was looking to keep things casual and simple. I’m pleased with how cute they came out!
As a side note, how cute is this chicken egg holder???!!!! I stumbled across it as I was looking to link my ceramic bunny egg holder for you guys, and it is currently sitting in my shopping cart awaiting purchase. I fell in love with it! You can find it here if you’re interested! To. Die. For.
And finally, please excuse my baby gate visible in the photos. My 1 year old is a climber, so it has become a very important safety feature of our home.

HOW TO SET A TABLE
This first tip is one I live by. It is THE ONLY WAY I ever know where the heck the proper silverware placement is. All you need to remember is the word “forks”, and you’ll know exactly how to correctly set the table.
As you can see from the infographic above….
F is for “fork”
O resembles the round plate
R is for “right side” (because we had to keep it in there or the word became foks, which is almost an R rated word)
K is for “knife”
S is for “spoon”
How simple is that? I may have just shared with you my best little trick for anything ever.
WHICH GLASS IS MINE?
Do you ever sit down at a beautifully set table (such as at a wedding or special event) and feel uncertain which water glass or bread dish is yours? I have. I’ve actually sat there thirsty waiting for my neighbor to use their water glass so I can figure out which is mine. Well, be thirsty no more my friends. Here is another little trick for you that’s even simpler than counting on your fingers.
Put your thumb and pointer finger together on each hand. Your left hand will resemble a lowercase “b”, and your right hand will resemble a lowercase “d”.
b is for bread and butter
d is for drink
Now just follow your hands! Your bread and butter is on the left with the “b”, and your drink glass is on your right with your “d”.
MY FARMHOUSE TABLE
For anyone interested in my gorgeous table, my father built it for me. The design is based on this plan by Ana White. However, the actual construction became personalized by my father who changed some things up. Believe it or not, I actually ordered the table and bench legs from Amazon!! You can find the table legs here and the bench legs here if you’re interested. The chairs are from IKEA, and can be found here.

Beautiful Morgan! All these tables are making me realize I seriously need some table linens! I love yours so much!
Morgan Lonsdale says
Thanks Katie! To be honest, I borrowed the placemats from my mom. I was planning to use a table runner I love, but it just didn’t feel right. I wanted some color! The way I see it, your linen selection extends to what friends and family own too!
Juie says
Such great table setting hacks! This will be fun to teach my kids…they love to help set a special table for company and have a hard time remembering these things also.
Morgan Lonsdale says
I’m happy you enjoyed them. My mom needed these for me when I was little. I was the worst, and she was constantly shocked that I STILL didn’t know where things went. These hacks were the only way I finally remembered. I had some sort of weird mind block. lol
Jenn says
Your table is so beautiful! I love the legs, some day we will build a nice table for our family. Those are the legs I would pick! You are a natural educator by the way!
Morgan Lonsdale says
What a beautiful compliment Jenn! Thank you so much. And yes, I feel so lucky that I was able to basically design my table exactly how I wanted it. It took a little while to convince my dad to build it, but in the end he couldn’t say no to his baby girl. 😉
